Robotics Engineer

The Role:

They are building mission-level autonomy for UxVs, enabling them to understand higher-level tasks and operate autonomously even in challenging environments where no GPS or other navigation signals are available. They use primarily visual means to achieve our goal and we are currently compatible with multiple drone platforms.

You will be working on both software and hardware to deliver the next stage of our drone autonomy product. You will be expected to take full ownership of your area, deliver a positive impact, and step up as needed to push for progress.

What will you be responsible for:

  • Developing, optimising, and maintaining algorithms for our drone autonomy products using ROS

  • Integrating new sensors and AI-sourced inputs into the system and maintaining the interfaces

  • Building the interfaces for communicating with UxVs, including third-party autopilot interactions

  • Establishing and automating testing procedures to ensure the stability of autonomy components

  • Continuous improvement of the performance and efficiency of the autonomy components

  • Close collaboration with the team to ensure full system visibility and functionality

 

You must have these to apply:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related subject

  • A sound understanding of the fundamentals of drones and UxVs (sensors, actuators, control theory, navigation, autopilots, etc.)

  • Strong understanding of open-source protocols and frameworks commonly used in UxVs (MAVLink, PX4, Ardupilot, etc.)

  • Proficiency with Python and C++, experience working in a large collaborative codebase

  • Experience with ROS2 or ROS

  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills

 

Nice to have:

  • Experience with computer vision based positioning and navigation in UxVs (Visual Odometry, SLAM)

  • Experience with simulation tools (Gazebo, X-Plane, Airsim, Unreal, etc.)

  • Familiarity with optical sensors and solutions

  • Experience designing and validating complex robotic systems

  • Basic rapid prototyping skills (PCB design, CAD, 3D printing, etc.)

  • Familiarity with edge-deploying code on low SWaP computers

The candidate should have a mechanical engineering background and be qualified to HND level as a minimum, preferably have experience in air movement or materials handling, although this is not essential, and be able to liaise with both clients and suppliers on a daily basis.

Technology Project Manager - Audit Technology

As a Project Manager (PM) within the UK Audit Technology Delivery Team (ATDT), you will be responsible for delivering Technology projects on behalf of the UK Audit capability to support Business goals and strategies.

The PM, in doing this will need to establish a trusting working relationship with UK Audit Business stakeholders to understand objectives and plans, along with key themes to achieve the success they expect. The Project Manager, with the support of technical specialists and Business Analysts can then use this information to ensure the right technology is delivered to time, budget and quality.

The PM will support the ATDT project portfolio by leading the scoping, structuring, planning and execution of projects to oversee the delivery of the designed solutions and products.

The PM will also provide structured and regular meetings to key stakeholders reporting on progress and quality assurance to ensure work is carried on in accordance with agreed objectives and company governance process. PMs are also expected to liaise with their counterparts to identify and manage key interdependencies between projects.

The role needs to be able to respond to changing priorities and changes in business needs in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing strong, trusting, and credible relationships with Audit Technology

  • Experience of the whole product lifecycle. Solid project management skills in initiation, analysis, design, test and transition where both Project Management Professional and Agile SCRUM certification / or applicable proven experience is a must.

  • Proven track record of delivery using agile management and lean methodologies, in a complex environment. Use blended approaches depending on context - reflects, adapts to ensure delivery happens. Qualified as an APMP Practitioner (or equivalent)

  • Educated to degree level in a business-related subject or equivalent experience in a business or IT environment.
